Viper Swing are:
"Dr." Dirk Ronneburg - Violin and vocals
Paul Paterson - guitar
David Midas - guitar
Charlotte "Chazzy" Pulcino - double bass

Edinburgh-based Viper Swing plays hot string jazz: infectious rhythms, joyful improvisations, and gravelly vocals blend to evoke the swing-era spirit of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s. Whether on a festival stage or at an intimate cocktail reception, the band sets toes to tapping, hips to swaying, and hearts to singing. Years of dedication and consummate artistry shine through every note they play. Their repertoire includes works of the legendary gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, songs from the Great American Songbook, and original compositions—along with swing arrangements of modern pop songs (Michael Jackson, Abba, and Daft Punk, to name a few). They perform regularly in Edinburgh and around the UK. Past performances include Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Kelburn Garden Party, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Northern Roots Festival, Lindisfarne Festival, Callander Jazz Festival, Dundee Jazz Club, Garioch Jazz Club, several TV appearances, and an ongoing Sunday residency at the Edinburgh Sheraton Hotel for the past 6 years.
Viper Swing - The Musicians
David Midas is a Scottish guitarist who has worked in many different genres of music in his career as a musician. He was based in London for ten years and worked with many world class musicians. He has played at many major festivals and venues throughout the UK. Relocating to Scotland in 2000 he has built a solid reputation as a gigging musician.  In 2011 he started Viper Swing which has become one of Scotland's finest gypsy jazz bands.

Violinist and singer “Dr.” Dirk Ronneburg emigrated from the US and settled in Edinburgh in 2012 when he joined Viper Swing.  He has played the violin since childhood and has performed professionally around the world in countless bands of various genres along the way.  In addition to Viper Swing, he currently also plays with Nouvelle Jukebox and songstress Cera Impala.  Dirk also teaches violin/fiddle, and especially enjoys helping students discover the world of improvisation.  Get in touch at: info@viperswing.com

Paul Paterson is an Edinburgh based guitarist who is widely recognised as one of Scotland's leading gypsy jazz players. Paul has played professionally since the age of 18 and specialises in the authentic Django sound of the 1930's. He has toured the world with his various bands - from Moscow to Las Vegas, Romania, Nashville and all points in between.

Already an established musician on the Scottish rock scene as bass player and singer of Edinburgh-based Rénovations, French-born Charlotte “Chazzy P” Pulcino used the down-time of the pandemic to realise a lifelong dream of learning to play double bass.  Studying with such notable players as Mario Caribe and Roy Percy, Charlotte’s skills developed so quickly that she was able to earn the permanent upright bass position with Viper Swing not more than two years after first picking-up the instrument.  Charlotte also plays with Nouvelle Jukebox and occasionally with recent winners of Best Band at Scottish Jazz Awards Tenement Jazz Band.
